First got interested in martial arts in 1964 with Judo
Started Ju-Jitsu in 1973 with Ken Wright Sensei who taught Seibukan Goshin Ryu Ju-Jitsu
He moved to Congleton Cheshire in 1986 where he continued his training under Neil Hulme 3rd Dan Juku Ryu Ju-Jitsu (BJJA). One year later achieving his Black belt (Shodan) with Wright Sensei and Kyoshi Richard Morris founder of Ju-Jitsu International.
In Judo gained his 1st Kyu (Brown Belt) with Robin Otani Sensei Head of the British Judo Association ( BJA )
In between this busy schedule he started his own club at Mill Hayes Hall in CKK Bu-Jutsu Kai
One year later with the help of fellow instructor Phil Blackburn Sensei they moved to their present address The Academy of Martial Arts Wharf Road Biddulph
In 1992 he took his 2nd Dan (Nidan) Kyoshi Morris
Along the years to 1996 under the watchful eye of Shihan Ken Culshaw 6th Dan Welham Ju-Jitsu and founder of Welham Martial Arts he accomplished his 3rd Dan (Sandan)
May 2004 he accomplished his 4th Dan Yondan and title of Renshi at the Welham head quarters
December 2008 was awarded his 5th (Godan) from Shihan Culshaw Sensei 7th Dan
November 2011 Awarded his 6th Dan (Rokudan) from Shihan Culshaw Sensei 8th Dan
